Getting to PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit
Sepang International Circuit (SIC) is located conveniently close to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), situated approximately 60–80 km south of Kuala Lumpur city centre. Travelling there is straightforward, with several excellent options, particularly during major race meetings when dedicated shuttle services are in operation.
By Motor Vehicle (Car/Taxi/Ride-Hailing)
Driving is often the most direct method, taking around 45–60 minutes from KL city centre via the main motorway network (e.g., MEX Highway or North-South Expressway).
- Driving: The circuit is well-connected to major motorways. Use a sat-nav or a route-finding app like Waze or Google Maps for the most up-to-date route and traffic information.
- Parking: Ample car park facilities are available at the circuit. Please check the RPM360 event website for specific car park information and any relevant fees. Early arrival is highly recommended to secure a suitable parking space.
- Ride-Hailing/Taxi: You can book a taxi or use a ride-hailing app like Grab directly to the circuit.
Note: Obtaining a ride away from the circuit immediately after a major race can be challenging and expensive due to exceptionally high demand and heavy traffic. Consider a pre-booked service or the shuttle bus for your return journey.
By Public Transport (Rail & Transfer)
- Rail to KLIA: From KL Sentral (Kuala Lumpur’s main transport hub), take the KLIA Ekspres (non-stop, about 28 minutes) or the KLIA Transit (stops at a few stations, slightly longer) to KLIA Terminal 1 or KLIA Terminal 2.
- Transfer to SIC: The quickest way for the final leg is a short 10–15 minute taxi ride from the airport (KLIA) to the circuit.
Where To Stay?
KLIA Area (Closest Proximity)
- Located adjacent to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) complex, these hotels offer the shortest transfer times to the circuit—often just a 10 to 15-minute drive./li>
- This is the best option for those prioritising quick access on event days and avoiding the city rush.
- The price and rating range here is diverse, from highly-rated 4-star and 5-star airport hotels to budget-friendly transit and Tune-style hotels.
Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) Area
- Hotels in the city centre offer a greater range of luxury, dining, and nightlife experiences.
- While travel time to the circuit is longer (around 45–75 minutes, depending on traffic), this is ideal for fans who want to combine the race with a city sightseeing holiday. Many official travel packages often utilise high-end city hotels.

Key Factors for Your Choice
- Distance vs Cost: Generally, the closer you are to the circuit (the KLIA area), the more convenient your mornings will be, though prices may be higher, especially for premium hotels like Sama-Sama Hotel KLIA. Conversely, budget options further afield or more basic hotels near the airport offer substantial savings.
- Ratings and Amenities: The KLIA area offers hotels with excellent guest ratings that cater to the demanding needs of international travellers, including options with pools, gyms, and great dining. We encourage you to weigh up whether maximum convenience or enjoying the vibrant city life is your top priority when making your booking.
